VOICE LESSONS:
Typically held once a week, ongoing lessons work on vocal range, agility, rhythm, movement, and growing breath capacity. Students learn 2-4 songs at once, which we pick together with the purpose of working on specific goals in each song.
In school choir or theater? We can easily work on songs or sections that are giving you trouble so that you can attend your concerts, competitions, or performances with greater confidence!
All ages welcome, but children must know their alphabet to begin lessons.
VOCAL COACHING:
Have an audition or performance coming up, and just want a few lessons to work on a something specific? Individual coaching lessons are a way to get expert advice and practice on those areas you want to fine-tune before your performance!
Note: Weekly voice lessons also include coaching elements, but go in greater depth regarding longer-term vocal development, as opposed to prepping for one-off performances.
Lessons & Coaching
Piano lessons are a great way to begin learning the basics of notes, chords, rhythm, theory, and discipline needed for all instruments. Using both hands, the body, and the feet (for the pedals), learning piano is a full body and brain workout as the brain learns to handle visual, auditory, and motor movements all at once!
Beginner students will typically learn from a set of piano method books that focus on learning the note names, how to read sheet music, and basics of music theory. Annie will provide the method books (for a fee) after the first lesson based on the student’s skill, or will recommend which books to buy online or from a local music store. Lessons involve singing along with the songs as the student plays, building pitch recognition.
Students who are more advanced may begin to learn how to read music charts for participating in bands or worship teams, with a basis in the music theory number system (also known as the Nashville Number System). This involves learning to play chords, improv based on chords, and improv to fill longer musical interludes.
Piano lessons are a fun way to connect with music, no matter your age. Wishing you’d started when you were little? Go ahead and start today! It’s never too late to fall in love with music in new ways!
